Sacrifice or compromise?

Dear Diary,

Would you do anything for your love ones? Would you sacrifice everything just for their happiness or well-being? If yes, to what extend?

Do you have expectations in return for your partner after you make the a big sacrifice?  And will you be upset if your partner doesn't appreciate you for your sacrifice or doesn't automatically assume the next one is on him?

These questions were playing in my head lately.  I was told that sacrificing your own happiness for the happiness of the one you love is by far the truest type of love.  But for me, love needs not only sacrifice, but also with the giving comes the taking. It goes both ways, but love also needs trust, pride, humanity, and lots and lots of patience.  Love is undefinable and there is no manual.  Sometimes it takes all you have got to give.

In love relationship, it involved both sacrifices and compromises.  Okay, what is the different between the two?  To sacrifice is to give up something precious in order to gain or maintain something i.e. a valuable relationship or some other worthy cause.  On the other side, to compromise is to give up the pursuit of a better prospect in order not to risk an existing situation, even if it somewhat worse that the prospect you give up.

So, darling please sacrifice something for me so that I know that you love me, and in return I will stop considering you as the major compromise of my life....

"Eeerrrrmmm Honey, could you catch a grenade or two for me, please?" ;)

Signed for now,
LOLA
